How do I minify a SQL query online?

What does the SQL minifier remove?

Outside quoted text it deletes block comments written as /* ... */, double-dash line comments and, when the switch is on, MySQL hash comments. It collapses line breaks, tabs and repeated spaces into single spaces and removes the spaces around commas, parentheses and comparison operators such as = and !=.

Can minifying change string values in my query?

No. The minifier reads the query token by token and copies single-quoted strings (including doubled-quote and backslash escapes), double-quoted and backtick identifiers and PostgreSQL dollar-quoted bodies exactly as written, so a double dash, a hash or extra spaces inside them are left alone.

Which SQL dialects does it work with?

It works for MySQL, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, SQLite, SQL Server and Oracle queries. Turn off the hash comment switch for PostgreSQL code that uses the # operator. It does not validate syntax, so an invalid query stays invalid.

Are MySQL /*! */ hints removed?

Not by default. Comments that start with /*! (MySQL version hints) or /*+ (optimizer hints) change how the query runs, so they are kept. Switch off Keep hints to remove them like ordinary comments.

Is my SQL sent to a server?

No. Minification runs in your browser, so your table names, schema details and query logic stay on your device.
