Our free PDF splitter lets you split PDF documents into individual pages, fixed groups, or custom page ranges — entirely in your browser, with nothing uploaded to any server. How to Split a PDF Drop or select your PDF in the upload zone.
Choose a split mode: extract all pages, use fixed groups, or enter custom ranges. Set the output filename and click Split PDF . Download the resulting PDF files — packaged as a ZIP archive when more than one file is created.
Split Modes Explained Extract All Pages: Creates one PDF per page — ideal for scanned documents, invoices, or any file where each page is a standalone item.
Fixed Groups: Splits the document every N pages — for example, splitting a 20-page report into 5 files of 4 pages each. Custom Ranges: Define exactly which pages go into each output file using ranges like 1-3, 5, 8-10.
Each comma-separated range becomes a separate PDF. Privacy & Security All processing runs client-side using pdf-lib.
Your PDF never leaves your device, making this tool safe for contracts, court filings, NDAs, financial statements, and any confidential document you cannot upload to a third-party service.
Output Format When the split produces more than one file, all PDFs are packaged into a single ZIP archive for convenient download. A single-range extraction downloads as a plain PDF file. The output filename is customizable before splitting.
Related Tools After splitting you can merge PDFs , reorder pages , add page numbers , or add a watermark — all browser-based in the same toolbox.
Frequently asked questions
How do I split a PDF into separate pages?
Drop your PDF, keep the default Extract all pages mode and click Split PDF. You get one PDF per page, named like yourfile_page_1.pdf, packaged together in a single ZIP file.
How do I extract specific pages from a PDF?
Choose Custom ranges and type the pages to extract separated by commas, for example 1-5, 8, 11-13. Each range becomes its own PDF; a single range such as 3-7 downloads as one PDF instead of a ZIP. Spaces are ignored, so 1 - 5, 8 works too.
How do I split a PDF every N pages?
Choose Fixed groups and set Pages per group. A 10-page file with 3 pages per group produces 4 files (pages 1-3, 4-6, 7-9 and 10), downloaded together as a ZIP.
Why did nothing download in Custom ranges mode?
Ranges outside the document's page count, or not written as a number or a number-dash-number pair, are skipped. If no range is valid, nothing is downloaded and an error tells you which pages exist; a red note under the Page ranges field warns you before you click.
Can I change the output file names?
Yes. The Output filename field, the original name by default, is used as the base: files are named base_page_N, base_part_N or base_range_N, and the ZIP archive is named base_split.zip.
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. Splitting uses pdf-lib and JSZip in your browser, so the document never leaves your device.
