Epoch Converter — Free Unix Timestamp & Date Format Converter. Free epoch converter and Unix timestamp to date tool. Convert seconds, milliseconds, microseconds or nanoseconds to ISO 8601, RFC 3339, RFC 7231, UTC, Mongo ObjectID and Excel dates.
Includes a live clock, date picker, any time zone and date details. Use our free epoch converter to turn Unix timestamps into readable dates and back again.
Paste a value and the Unix timestamp converter works out the format for you: seconds (10 digits), milliseconds (13), microseconds (16) and nanoseconds (19) are each detected from the digit count.
ISO 8601, ISO 9075, RFC 3339, RFC 7231, UTC strings, MongoDB ObjectIDs and Excel serial dates are recognised as well. Every equivalent format is shown side by side with a copy button, so timestamp to date and date to timestamp conversions take one paste.
A live clock at the top shows the current Unix timestamp in seconds and milliseconds, ready to copy. Prefer to start from a calendar? Pick a date and time with the date picker to get its epoch time in every format.
The time zone panel shows the same moment in any IANA time zone (New York, London, Kolkata, Karachi, Riyadh, Sydney and hundreds more) with its exact UTC offset. For wall-clock conversions between cities, use our Time Zone Converter.
A date details panel lists the day of the week, day of the year, ISO week number, quarter, days in the month and whether it is a leap year, and the relative time shows how long ago (or how far ahead) the date is.
Developers use this date converter to read server logs, check JWT exp and iat claims, debug database columns and build API query ranges.
The start and end of the day, week, month and year are listed as Unix seconds, which is handy for SQL BETWEEN filters and analytics dashboards. You can also share a link that reopens the same timestamp, format and time zone.
All conversions happen in your browser, and nothing is uploaded. Related tools: Time Zone Converter, Days Between Dates, JWT Parser and Crontab Generator.
FAQ
How do I convert a Unix timestamp to a readable date?
Paste the timestamp, for example 1700000000, into the input. The format is recognised automatically and the same moment is listed as a JS locale date string, ISO 8601, ISO 9075, RFC 3339, RFC 7231, UTC format, millisecond, microsecond and nanosecond timestamps, Mongo ObjectID and Excel date, each easy to copy.
How does the epoch converter tell seconds from milliseconds?
By the number of digits: up to 10 digits is read as a Unix timestamp in seconds, 11 to 13 digits as milliseconds, 14 to 16 as microseconds and 17 to 19 as nanoseconds. If the guess is wrong, choose the correct format in the list next to the input.
What is the current Unix timestamp?
The live clock at the top shows the current Unix timestamp in seconds and milliseconds, updated every second. Click Copy seconds or Copy ms to copy it, or Use Now to load the current time into the converter.
How do I see the date in another time zone?
Choose a zone from the Target Timezone list in the Date in any time zone card to see the date and time there. The main list of formats uses your browser's local time zone, which is also the default target zone.
Can I convert a date back to a Unix timestamp?
Yes. Type a date such as 2024-01-15T10:30:00Z or use the date picker, then read the Unix timestamp row. The Date details card adds day of week, day of year, ISO week and quarter, and a table gives the start and end of the day, week, month and year in Unix seconds.
Why is my date reported as invalid?
The value does not match the format selected in the list, for example letters in a Unix timestamp. Clear the field and paste again so the format is detected, or pick the right format manually. Dates without an explicit offset are read in your local time zone.
How to use this online tool
Epoch Converter — Free Unix Timestamp & Date Format Converter is designed for fast browser workflows when you need to format, validate, convert, decode, encode, generate, or inspect data without opening a heavy desktop app. Start with the input field or visible options, review the result, then copy or download the output for the next step.
Private processing in your browser
Epoch Converter — Free Unix Timestamp & Date Format Converter keeps the normal processing step local in your browser. That is useful for code snippets, tokens, documents, configuration values, text samples, and other material that should not be sent to a remote service unless you explicitly choose to share it.
When this tool is useful
Use Epoch Converter — Free Unix Timestamp & Date Format Converter for repeatable developer tasks, technical documentation, QA checks, quick conversions, debugging, content cleanup, and internal team workflows. The page focuses on clear inputs, immediate feedback, and output that is easy to reuse in code, reports, tickets, emails, or notes.
Practical tips
Before copying the final result, check important details such as spacing, casing, filenames, encoding, token structure, line breaks, or output format. Small checks prevent mistakes when the result is reused in source code, API requests, documentation, spreadsheets, or shared files.
