XML Minifier — Free Online Minify XML & XML Compressor. Free online XML minifier. Minify XML to one line by removing whitespace, line breaks and comments, keep CDATA and attribute values intact, and see how many bytes you saved — 100% in your browser.

Our free online XML minifier shrinks any XML document to the smallest valid form in real time.

Paste a SOAP envelope, an RSS or Atom feed, a sitemap, an Android layout, a Maven pom.xml or any configuration file and the tool will minify XML instantly: whitespace between tags is removed, line breaks and indentation disappear, and comments are stripped so you get XML on one line.

Unlike naive regex-based compressors, this XML compressor understands the structure of your markup — CDATA sections, quoted attribute values and processing instructions are preserved exactly, so the minified output stays byte-for-byte equivalent in meaning to the original.

Fine-tune the result with three options: keep or remove XML comments, keep or drop the declaration, and choose whether whitespace inside text content is collapsed or preserved verbatim (useful for mixed content and xml:space="preserve" documents).

A live size panel shows the original size, the minified size and the percentage saved, so you can see exactly how much you reduce XML file size before shipping an API payload, embedding XML in JSON, or storing it in a database column.

A warning appears when the input is not well-formed XML. Need the opposite? Use our XML Formatter to pretty-print and indent XML again, or convert your document with XML to JSON.

Everything runs locally in your browser: your API responses, credentials inside config files and internal data exports are never uploaded to a server, and the XML minify tool keeps working offline once the page has loaded.

Load the sample to see how it works, copy the result with one click, download it as minified.xml, or share a link that restores your input and options. Minifying other formats? Try the JSON Minifier, HTML Minifier, CSS Minifier and SQL Minifier.

Frequently asked questions

How do I minify XML?

Paste your XML into Input XML or click Load sample. The Minified XML output updates as you type; click Copy or Download .xml to save it. The stats show the original size, minified size, bytes saved and size reduction.

What does the XML minifier remove?

It removes indentation and line breaks between tags, extra whitespace inside tags, and comments while Remove comments is on (the default). Attribute values and CDATA sections are kept exactly as they are.

What do the minify options do?

Remove comments drops all comments. Remove XML declaration also drops the xml version line at the top (off by default). Collapse whitespace in text turns runs of spaces inside text content into a single space and trims text; turn it off to keep text exactly as written.

Why do I see a warning that the input is not well-formed XML?

The input could not be parsed as valid XML, for example because a tag is never closed. The minifier still produces output, but it may be incomplete, so fix the XML first; the XML Formatter tool shows the line and column of the error.

Is my XML uploaded when I minify it?

No. Minification runs entirely in your browser, so your XML files never leave your device.

Practical tips

Before copying the final result, check important details such as spacing, casing, filenames, encoding, token structure, line breaks, or output format. Small checks prevent mistakes when the result is reused in source code, API requests, documentation, spreadsheets, or shared files.
