TimeToTime KML/CSV reference pack — version 1, 29 September 2026 All locations, names and attributes in this pack are synthetic examples. They are not survey data and must not be used for navigation. START HERE 1. Open https://timetotime.net/kml-to-csv-converter/. 2. Browse to converter-exercise.kmz and select Read map. 3. Choose 01-points.kml, then select Read map again. Expect 2 point rows. 4. Keep spreadsheet text protection enabled. Download CSV and compare its contents with 01-points.expected.csv (the output name is map-points.csv). 5. Choose 02-mixed-geometry.kml and select Read map again. Expect 2 point rows from one placemark, plus 1 excluded LineString from another placemark. 6. Review and acknowledge the partial export to enable Download CSV. Compare with 02-mixed-geometry.expected.csv. You can also load either individual KML directly, without a document picker. WHAT TO CHECK 01-points: longitude precedes latitude; source decimal precision is preserved. The first name includes an accent, comma and quotes; its description has a newline. Folder is Training / Sites. Data fields are Status, Site code, Note in that order. Codes 001 and 002 remain text in CSV; import as Text in Excel. The second point has no altitude (empty, not zero). Its mode is clampToGround. Its formula-like Note =1+1 is exported as '=1+1 with default protection on. 02-mixed-geometry: Point number is 1 then 2 within the same placemark. Code 003 repeats. The first altitude is 0 with relativeToGround; the second is empty with clampToGround. The line is not exported as vertices or a centre. Expected files use UTF-8 with BOM, quoted fields and CRLF record separators. The first description retains an internal LF. CSV has no column-type schema. Disabling text protection intentionally changes the first file's Note cell. ARCHIVE SCOPE converter-exercise.kmz is a multi-document converter teaching fixture, not recommended packaging for portable Google Earth maps. Google recommends one KML per KMZ; with several, Google Earth uses the first one it finds and ignores the others. Use the individual KML files for ordinary map viewing. No remote NetworkLinks, personal data, media or external resources are included.
