How do I use this online Markdown editor?

Type or paste Markdown into the Markdown Editor box on the left. The Live Preview on the right updates as you type. Use Clear to empty the editor and Copy HTML Source to copy the rendered HTML to your clipboard.

Which Markdown syntax is supported?

The preview uses the markdown-it parser: CommonMark headings, bold and italic, links, images, inline code, fenced code blocks, blockquotes, horizontal rules, bullet, numbered and nested lists, plus GitHub-style tables and strikethrough. Bare URLs are turned into links. Task list checkboxes and footnotes are not supported.

Why is my snake_case name or code not shown in italics?

Underscores inside a word, such as my_variable_name, do not start emphasis in CommonMark, and everything inside backticks or a fenced code block is shown literally. Use *text* or _text_ with spaces around it when you do want italics.

What does Copy HTML Source give me?

It copies the HTML behind the preview, such as h1, strong, a, table, ol and pre elements, ready to paste into a CMS, email template or static page. Raw HTML typed in the editor is kept, but it is cleaned with DOMPurify first, so script tags, onerror style event handlers and javascript links are removed.

Is my text saved or uploaded?

Nothing is uploaded: conversion runs in your browser. The text is not saved either, so it is lost when you reload or leave the page; copy your Markdown or the HTML before closing the tab.
