JSON Viewer β Free Online JSON Tree Viewer & Explorer. Free online JSON viewer and explorer. Paste any JSON to instantly view it as a collapsible tree with syntax highlighting, search, and expand/collapse β all processed in your browser.
Instantly view and explore JSON with our free online JSON viewer. Paste any raw JSON string β API responses, config files, database documents β and explore it as a collapsible, syntax-highlighted JSON tree viewer.
Whether you are a frontend developer debugging REST API payloads, a backend engineer inspecting NoSQL documents, or a data analyst validating configuration files, our online JSON viewer makes it easy to navigate deeply nested data, search keys and values, and collapse or expand any branch.
Use Expand All / Collapse All for instant control over large structures, and grab a re-indented or minified copy from the output box below the tree. Our JSON tree viewer runs entirely in your browser β input is processed locally and saved in this browser.
Copy link includes your input in a shareable URL; avoid sharing secrets. Ads make separate network requests. JSON5 syntax is supported: paste trailing commas, comments, and unquoted keys without errors. Need to compact your payload after debugging?
Try our JSON Minifier. For a side-by-side comparison, our JSON Diff tool highlights changes between two JSON objects. If you only need to reformat JSON, our JSON Formatter is the dedicated tool.
Frequently asked questions
Can I open a JSON file from my device?
Yes. Choose Open file, select a UTF-8 .json, .json5 or .txt file up to 256 KiB, then choose Use file to replace that editorβs text. Cancel or a validation error keeps your input unchanged. Imports allow 64 nested containers and 10,000 values including containers. Files are read locally; no file is sent by the import control. Formatter and Viewer save applied text in this browser until you clear the editor. Copy link includes your input, so avoid sharing secrets.
How do I view JSON as a tree?
Paste your JSON into JSON Input or click Load sample. The tree view appears below with keys, strings, numbers, booleans and null in different colors. Click the arrow next to any object or array to collapse or expand it.
How do I search inside the JSON?
Type in the Search keys or values box. The tree is filtered to matching nodes and their parents, and matches are highlighted. The search is not case sensitive.
What do Expand all and Collapse all do?
Expand all opens every object and array. Collapse all folds every level and shows a summary with the number of keys or items, so you can drill down step by step. The counter next to the buttons shows how many nodes the document has.
What happens if my JSON is invalid?
The parser error, including the line and column where it failed, appears under the input and the tree is hidden until the JSON is valid. JSON5 extras such as comments, single quotes and trailing commas are accepted.
Can I format or edit JSON in the viewer?
Yes, you can format it. Below the tree, the Prettified JSON box shows your data re-indented with the Indent size you choose, optionally with keys sorted. Turn on Minify to get it on a single line instead, then use the copy button. Editing happens in JSON Input; the tree itself is read-only.
How do I share what I am viewing?
Click Copy link to copy a URL containing your JSON and the current search text. The data is stored in the link, so avoid sharing links that contain secrets.
How to use this online tool
JSON Viewer β Free Online JSON Tree Viewer & Explorer is designed for fast browser workflows when you need to format, validate, convert, decode, encode, generate, or inspect data without opening a heavy desktop app. Start with the input field or visible options, review the result, then copy or download the output for the next step.
Private processing in your browser
JSON Viewer β Free Online JSON Tree Viewer & Explorer keeps the normal processing step local in your browser. That is useful for code snippets, tokens, documents, configuration values, text samples, and other material that should not be sent to a remote service unless you explicitly choose to share it.
When this tool is useful
Use JSON Viewer β Free Online JSON Tree Viewer & Explorer for repeatable developer tasks, technical documentation, QA checks, quick conversions, debugging, content cleanup, and internal team workflows. The page focuses on clear inputs, immediate feedback, and output that is easy to reuse in code, reports, tickets, emails, or notes.
Practical tips
Before copying the final result, check important details such as spacing, casing, filenames, encoding, token structure, line breaks, or output format. Small checks prevent mistakes when the result is reused in source code, API requests, documentation, spreadsheets, or shared files.
