How do I reduce the size of a PDF?

What are the file and page limits?

One non-empty PDF up to 20 MiB and 100 pages. At the selected DPI, each rendered page must fit within 16 million pixels and 8,192 pixels on either side. Try a lower preset for oversized pages. Encrypted files are unsupported.

Will text remain selectable?

A smaller rasterized result contains JPEG page images, so searchable text, links, form fields, bookmarks and digital signatures are not retained. Use PDF Optimizer when you need a structural re-save, and verify the result.

What happens if compression makes the PDF larger?

The rasterized candidate is discarded. The original bytes, filename and existing document features are kept, and the result shows 0% savings.

What does each quality preset do?

Low uses 72 DPI and JPEG quality 50%; Medium uses 96 DPI and 70%; High uses 150 DPI and 90%. Page dimensions and displayed orientation stay the same. Higher settings retain more visual detail but do not guarantee a smaller file.

Can I cancel or change the file?

Yes. Cancel stops a pending run. Choosing another valid file, clearing the selection or leaving the page cancels the old job and discards its result. Your source file is not modified.

Is the PDF uploaded or saved in browser storage?

The compressor reads the selected file on this device and does not upload it or persist it in browser storage. Clear file or leave the page to release the generated result. Advertising makes separate network requests.
